The girls are back in town

We went down separate paths for a bit, but this year we’re getting the band back together. What’s the saying, ‘distance only makes the art grow stronger’?

2016

It all started with a Big Red hand.

After AWARD School and a few boutique agencies/studios, we cut our teeth at Big Red on one of the biggest retailers in Australia, Coles. Learning high-volume retail made us swift and crafty problem solvers, and we produced work that created new sales records and pushed share prices through the roof. Lauren learned to hand-storyboard from the best (old school, but on a tablet). Smoke curled off Leah’s keyboard, and our sleeves were always rolled to the elbows.

2020

STIHL slaying, Leah launched Mavens.

After three years together, Leah snagged a role at midsize studio HBK where she worked on LifeStyles, STIHL power tools, Dulux-owned woodcare brands and others. Being the pandemmy, she launched her passion project Mavens (a publication to champion gender equality through communications).

2021

A Rare talent hit the wild west.

Lauren moved to Perth to spend time with the fam. After six months of remote work, she started up at Rare – WA’s biggest independent agency. The year she started, Rare won 2021 Agency of the Year. Clients included Bedshed, Transperth, The Good Grocer, Edith Cowan Uni, WA State Gov and more. She adopted a whippet, Marvin, to befriend her first furbaby Lily.

2022

Oh, what a feeling
at R/GA.

Leah was headhunted for R/GA Melbourne because they’d seen Mavens getting traction in the trade press and appreciated her initiative and leadership. That year, Leah won the R/GA Cube Award for Australian employee of the year. As Lead Copywriter, she currently runs a team of three responsible for all copy on the Toyota Australia website including the GAZOO Racing Journal publication.

2023

Back across the Nullabor.

After three years out west, Lauren and her partner packed up their lives and drove across the Nullabor Plain to SA, to spend some time with his family. Working mostly freelance, Lauren missed agency life and the taste of decent coffee. A move back to Melbourne was on the cards.

2024

Leah and Lauren v2.0

With some great experience under their belts, the chance to work together again was too good to pass up. The girls jumped on Zoom, Messenger, the phone, Figma and Cargo to put together this site for their next CD. Is it you?
